About
Brussels sprouts (Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera) are a member of the cruciferous vegetable family, closely related to cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and kale. The edible part of the plant is the small buds (or sprouts) that form along the length of a thick, vertical stalk.
This winter vegetable is mainly grown in Europe in England, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. The sowing season is between February and mid-April. The harvest starts in August and lasts until March.
