Use for

Cedomon is a biological seed dressing that protects seeds against fungal diseases, hence supports growth and development of young cereal plants up to the five-leaf stage. Suitable for organic and conventional cultivation.

Diseases

Seed-borne fungal diseases; Fusarium spp., common bunt (Tilletia spp.), leaf stripe (Pyrenophora graminea), leaf blotch (Pyrenophora chaetomioides), net blotch (Pyrenophora teres), covered smut (Ustilago hordei) and leaf spot (Septoria passerinii). Always check the local product label before usage.

Crops

Barley, spelt, oats. Do not apply Cedomon on de-husked spelt seeds.

Mode of action

The bacteria Pseudomonas chlororaphis MA342, present in Cedomon, multiply on the seed and compete with pathogens attached to the seed. The bacteria produce substances that have a lethal effect on the fungal diseases on the seed. After sowing, the Pseudomonas bacteria continue to multiply. On the roots of the crop, the growing bacteria compete with the pathogens for space and nutrients, inhibiting pathogen development and thus protecting the roots and the plant. The bacterium induces systemic resistance, this strongly increases the defense capacity of the young plants. Growth is especially promoted under stress conditions.

How does Cedomon work?

The living bacteria Pseudomonas chlororaphis, present in Cedomon, multiply on the seed and compete with other pathogens attached to the seed. This is the way it works:

  • The bacterium produces substances that have an instantly lethal effect on the fungal diseases.
  • On the roots of the crop, the bacterium competes for space and nutrients with the crop diseases, inhibiting their development and thus strengthening the roots.
  • The bacterium induces resistance, putting the plant in a heightened state of readiness. This strongly increases the resistance capacity of the new crop.
  • Growth is promoted under such circumstances of abiotic/biotic stress.

This is a great beginning for a healthy, flourishing, and resilient crop and is the perfect starting point for better production results.

Mode of action

Cedomon offers both an immediate and long-lasting control on a wide variety of seed-borne diseases.

How does it work?

  • Cedomon contains a high concentration of the P. chlororaphis strain MA342 bacteria, which produce metabolites.
  • After the application of Cedomon, a biofilm is created around the seed.
  • The metabolites already present in Cedomon have a direct inhibitory effect on various fungal diseases present on the seeds
  • The bacteria present in Cedomon will stay inactive when the seeds are stored dry.
  • After sowing, when water availability increases, the bacteria will become active and will rapidly start to multiply. This ensures that the seeds and first developing roots are quickly colonized.
  • Subsequently, the bacteria will start to compete with other pathogens for nutrients and space and continue to produce metabolites. This will further inhibit the growth of other pathogens.
  • Furthermore, the bacteria will stimulate the plant to start resistance reactions which, in turn, prevents other pathogens from successfully infecting the young plant.
  • Cedomon not only protects the seeds against seed-borne diseases. It also empowers the plant to speed up seedling emergence and reduces abiotic stresses, which results in improved crop yields.
